I Design to Discover.

Hey! I’m Emma James, an aspiring aerospace engineer based in Austin, Texas. By day, I conduct research on rocket propulsion and explore ideas about physics and engineering. By night, I paint, write poetry, and play original songs.

Poetry

I have written poetry since words lit up my world despite darkness, much like the stars in the sky.

Aerospace

I have loved aerospace since I squinted through tiny telescopes ten years ago. So, I wrote about it.

Art

I have created art since I could hold a pencil and a paintbrush. What is art without soul?

Leadership Roles

NASA Hunch President

As president of NASA Hunch, a new and exciting club at my high school, I have overseen 3 projects that have gone to UT for judging by NASA.

UpDraft Nonprofit VP

Updraft Engineering is a nonprofit founded on encouragement. In a time where engineering can seem too challenging, our mission is to encourage all kids, K-8, to pursue challenging yet achievable goals.

Mu Alpha Theta VP

As vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, I have helped lead lessons from complex numbers to integration, uplifting my peers to test their mathematical abilities in competition.

UIL Secretary

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is a springboard for academic competition. As secretary of UIL, I have helped coordinate meetings for and promote UIL.

Shotgun Shooting

I have competed in shotgun shooting for 5 years, in varsity for 3. From skeet and trap to sporting and 5-stand, every competition has changed the way I focus and think about precision in action.
