Hey! I’m Emma James, an aspiring aerospace engineer based in Austin, Texas. By day, I research aerospace systems, build engineering projects, and ask too many questions about physics. By night, I paint, write poetry, and play original songs.

Leadership Roles
NASA Hunch President
Lead five student engineering teams developing solutions for NASA HUNCH challenges. I coordinate project selection, design reviews, prototyping, materials, and team progress from concept through submission.
UpDraft Nonprofit VP
Helped lead an engineering initiative that has reached 250+ students across two countries. I design and lead hands-on workshops that turn concepts like circuits and mechanics into things students can build, test, and change.
Mu Alpha Theta VP
Teach and mentor students in topics from geometry through calculus, helping peers prepare for mathematics competitions while making difficult concepts easier to approach.
UIL Secretary
Help coordinate our school’s University Interscholastic League (UIL) academic program, organizing meetings and supporting students preparing to compete across academic events.
Shotgun Shooting
I’ve competed in varsity shotgun shooting for nearly five years. Competition has taught me something I didn’t expect: how to miss. Learning to reset after a bad shot, trust the routine I’ve practiced, and call “Pull!” again has changed how I approach challenges far beyond the shooting field.
